Reveal Insertable Cardiac Monitor
The Reveal® Insertable Cardiac Monitor can help your doctor determine the cause of fainting spells. You may be surprised to learn that the monitor is smaller than a pack of gum.
The Reveal ICM:
- Continuously records your heart's activity before, during, and after a fainting spell.
- Provides information that may help your doctor determine if your fainting is caused by an irregular heartbeat.
- Requires no wires or patches on the outside of your body.
- Is equipped with a battery designed to last up to three years.
How it Works
The Reveal ICM monitors your heart’s activity in the form of an electrocardiogram (ECG).
- The insertable cardiac monitor automatically records abnormal heart rhythms, even if you sleep through them.
- When a fainting spell occurs, you or your family member place a small hand-held activator over the cardiac monitor and press a button.
- This triggers the device to record the heart’s signal before, during, and after the unexplained fainting spell and identifies the episode on your electronic heart record.
- Your doctor can download information from the ICM to determine if your symptoms are caused by an irregular heartbeat.
