Using the Reveal Patient Assistant
The Reveal® Patient Assistant is a hand-held device that helps the Reveal® Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) capture your heart rhythms during a fainting episode. The Reveal Patient Assistant is about the size of a deck of cards.
When a fainting spell occurs, you or a family member should:
- Press the heart-shaped button. You should hear a short beep and see a flashing green status light at the top of the Reveal Patient Assistant.
- While the status light is flashing, hold the Patient Assistant against your skin or clothing, directly in front of your Reveal cardiac monitor.
- When the status light changes from flashing to solid and you hear a long beep, you can remove the Patient Assistant from your cardiac monitor.
- Look at the Patient Assistant. When the response indicator (√) lights up, it means you have successfully recorded an event in your cardiac monitor memory.
- After you use your Patient Assistant, promptly call your doctor’s office to schedule an appointment to check the information from your Reveal ICM.
- If the Low Battery indicator lights up, it’s time to replace the batteries in your Patient Assistant.
Note: See your Reveal Patient Manual for detailed instructions on using the Reveal Patient Assistant.
Battery Life
The Reveal Patient Assistant battery is designed to last through hundreds of uses. However, if you do not see the status light flashing, ask your doctor about exchanging the Patient Assistant.
